“On n’écrit pas l’histoire avec une gomme” L’identité linguistique en Algérie et la fracture historique. Le cas de Rachid Boudjedra
After several novels written in French and published in France, the Algerian writer Rachid Boudjedra began writing in Arabic. This is an attempt to reclaim territory that had been underestimated in Algeria. By resorting to Arabic language, Boudjedra is not only broadening the identity and axiological horizons of his work, but also claims a ‘personal’ identity. It also allows him to convey new and subversive questions and to put into perspective this conflicting link to the historical Other and to his language. But how should we interpret the use of self-translation in this case?
