Dialogizität und kreativer Umgang mit der (Fremd)Sprache im lyrischen Schaffen von Jiří Gruša
This paper examines the question of how multilingualism (dialogicity)
enters selected lyrical texts by Jiří Gruša as purposeful alienation in
combination with native-speaker elements. As a German author of
Czech origin who switched to German as his literary language at a
relatively late age, Gruša represents a particularly good example of
the creative use of a foreign language. His linguistic reconfiguration,
which includes metaphors and imagery as well as the translation of mother-tongue expressions and words, will be illustrated on the basis
of selected poems from the collections Der Babylonwald (1991),
Wandersteine (1994) und Grušas Wacht am Rhein aneb Putovní ghetto
(2001).
