Stimmenvielfalt und Rezeptionslenkung bei Feridun Zaimoglu
With his debut novels Kanak Sprak, Abschaum and Koppstoff, Feridun Zaimoglu created a sensation in the feuilletons and in literary studies. In these texts, he created the artificial language of 'Kanakisch', supposedly the authentic language of German citizens with Turkish roots, in which they spoke out vociferously. In his later texts, Zaimoglu erased such linguistic extravagances and replaced them with other stylistic characteristics, respectively. This however, put pressure on him with regard to the question of the authenticity of his texts. Subsequently, critical reception – often directed by authorial comments – concentrated on the 'oriental' characteristics of his texts. Eventually, however, Zaimoglu was accepted as having become part of the canon of 'German writers'.
